Known as “Nitemare,” this Pro Touring 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback has won an astounding 88 first place awards so far in its show career, no doubt with more to come. It is the hand built product of a collaboration between Custom Classic Restorations in Illinois and Billups Auto Body of Oklahoma, both known for their superb work. The two teams worked together for over 10 months to produce this amazing machine, which reflects an investment of some $240,000. Power Source of Fox Lake, Illinois hand built the car’s 358/630 HP SVO-based V-8, which teams with McLeod clutch components, a Tremec 5-speed and a Curry 9-inch 4.11 rear end. A full Heidts suspension with Air Ride Technologies support give the car its prize-winning stance, and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes work behind Throxton 18- and 20-inch wheels shod with Michelin rubber. Extra attention was paid to fitting the body panels and assuring uniform gaps and seams. Door handles and other details were shaved and the Shelby GT-style body was sprayed in base/clear coat Black over virtually flawless surfaces. The all new leather interior uses seats from a 2007 Mustang modified for a perfect fit inside; a custom console and door panels, power windows and door openers, carbon fiber-backed Auto Meter gauges, a Flaming River stainless steel steering column and a booming Alpine sound system with JL Audio subwoofers. Autographed by Carroll Shelby, this car includes among its accolades the following:
