1953 Lincoln Capri Convertible

Model 8H. 205 bhp, 317 cu. in. overhead valve V-8 engine, four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic power drum brakes. Wheelbase: 123 in.

In 1950 and 1951, private owners entered Lincoln cars in the new Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. Following their success, California hot rodders Bill Stroppe and Clay Smith convinced the company to mount a factory team in the new stock car class. Lincoln’s new 1952 models, with overhead valve engines and ball joint front suspension, were equal to the task, and Stroppe and Smith-prepared cars copped the first four places in that year’s stock class. The rout was repeated in 1953, and a one-two finish in 1954 established them as stock class champions as the race was discontinued. Lincolns of 1952 to 1954 are known as “road race Lincolns” to this very day.

This handsome road race Lincoln is a recently-freshened original car. Showing just 21,000 miles, it has a recent Hunter Green repaint, a new white leather interior, and new chrome. Loaded with options, the car is whisper-quiet and performs very well, and it will be a wonderful addition to any collection.
