1964 Chevrolet Impala 409 SS History Overview: The Chevrolet Impala worthy of particular attention is the performance-bred Super Sport of 1962-67. GM took the big 119-inch standard-wheelbase chassis, added sporty styling touches, and offered options designed to enhance performance and handling. The exterior featured special SS emblems and deleted the rocker panel brightwork. Tachometers and sport steering wheel were optional. Big-displacement V-8s were offered, like the 409 that delivered 425 horsepower. Equipped with handling options like stiffer springs and shocks, sintered metallic brake linings, four-speed gear box, and ultra-quick power steering, the Impala SS was the highest-performance big Chevy in History. Total 1964 Chevrolet Car Production: 1,833,700 Originally Sold To: N/A MSRP: $3,196.00 Stock Number C 195
