1969 Dodge Charger R/T History Overview: The Dodge Charger fastback was brand new in 1966. Although it shared the same frame and some sheet metal with the Coronet, the Charger had a look of its own: Hidden headlights, fold-down split-back rear seat, and a sporty interior. Standard power was the 318 V-8, but the 340, 383, 426 Hemi and 440 Magnum V-8’s were available as options. So were manual transmissions, “Rallye” suspension, and a long list of luxury equipment. Chargers were completely restyled in 1968. This was the best-looking Dodge intermediate of the decade, with a long, low, bullet-shaped fuselage; larger windows; a plain grille; and strong but light bumpers. Charger also featured hidden headlamps and a “Flying Buttress” roofline. Charger was given a split grille with a mild facelift in 1969. Total 1969 Dodge Car Production: 611,645 MSRP: $4,200.55 Stock Number C 192
