1985 Lincoln Continental Model Year History Overview: Lincoln Continental is a model name that has been used several times by the Lincoln Division of Ford Motor Company for a line of luxury cars. For most of its lifetime, the Continental nameplate referred to the four-door Lincoln Flagship. In 1981 the Continental’s reign as the Lincoln flagship ended when the Town Car, a trim-level up till then, took over as the new flagship. The Continental continued from 1982 to 1987 as a mid-size model, competing mainly with the Cadillac Seville until production ceased. This 1985 Lincoln Continental designer-series Valentino model is a rear wheel drive and was originally powered by a 5.0 liter V-8 rated at 150 hp. It was restored and updated in about 2003. A 1989 Mustang 5.0 liter (302 cid) High Output EFI V-8 engine with tubular headers rated at 225 horsepower was installed along with new 16-inch late model Lincoln Chrome-plated aluminum wheels.
