Packard was produced from 1899 through 1958. “Ask the man who owns one” became the company’s slogan in 1901 AND The name (The Ohio Automobile Company was used in 1900-01) was located in Warren, Ohio.  In 1902 it became the Packard Motor Car Company when it moved to Detroit, Michigan.

This car is a member of the Packard “Eighth Series” which comprised two engines in three model lines, Standard, Custom, and Deluxe Eight.  The Eight included a range of “Individual Custom” models with a convertible sedan and Victoria by coachbuilder Dietrich plus Packard’s own cabriolets, landaulets, and town cars.  Mechanically the Eighth Series gained an automatic Bijur chassis lubrication system and more power via a modified intake and exhaust passages.  Packard also designed a quick-shift mechanism for its four-speed gearbox to reduce gear changing effort, then switched to a three-speed all synchromesh transmission in 1932.
